If there’s one thing I have learned in the short time I’ve been blogging it’s I never feel alone in my procrastination of projects, my ever-growing number of projects and my what-in-the-#$%@&-were-you-thinking-projects.
I’m not 100% sure yet if this latest DIY falls into the “what-in-the-#$%@&-were-you-thinking-project”, but I’m going to live with it for a while before I make that decision.
Remember a couple weeks ago I got the crazy idea to tape faux grasscloth shelf paper onto my kitchen island insets. Remember I have the world’s brownest kitchen?
I got out my stash of contact/shelf paper and decided to go with the faux grasscloth. It was the most “normal” looking one of the bunch.
I got out the ol’ trusty utility knife, shelf paper and double-sided tape. (Can you believe the knife and tape were birthday presents from my dear friend? She sent me a hardware gift card and I blew through that baby in no time!)
then slapped on the shelf paper
This stuff is a little stretchy so it’s very forgiving if you see air bubbles. Now you just run your knife along the edges and you’re done. The entire island (6 insets) took me 25 minutes.
Admiring my latest, crazy idea and wishing the crap-o-la on the counter tops would just clean themselves up.
Like I said, I’m not sure if I really like it yet. I’ll move onto one of the other 135 projects in the works and come back to it later.
